Four Great Spots for Mother-Daughter Getaways

Mother-daughter getaways are much more than a fun vacation; they’re a way to renew or strengthen your bond. Lives get hectic and it’s good to take some time to reconnect without the hustle and bustle of daily life interfering. One of the benefits of the Ladera 55+ communities in Dallas TX is the fact that you can easily lock and leave, whether you’re gone for a few days or a week or more. Whether you want something relatively close or don’t mind traveling across the country, here are five great spots that are ideal for a mother-daughter getaway.

  1. Petersburg, FL. Tampa’s less well-known neighbor city offers up an enticing mix of culture and great food, capped off with beautiful beaches. The downtown and waterfront have become lively areas where you can find a wide range of entertainment options, day and night. There is also the Locale Market, which offers up some of the area’s best artisanal foods. Art lovers will be drawn to the Museum of Fine Arts with its collection of French Impressionists. For something a bit more unusual, the Dalí Museum offers up thought-provoking Spanish Surrealism. The Morean Arts Center and Glass Studio display amazing works of glass art and sculpture, with the opportunity to see artists at work with this fiery yet delicate material.
  2. Philadelphia, PA. Mother-daughter duos with a passion for history can’t help but enjoy themselves in the city of Brotherly Love. The home of so many important moments in American history, Philadelphia is also a great place to explore the history on foot. The visitor’s center offers plenty of walking tour maps that take you to places such as Independence Hall and Liberty Bell Pavilion. Nature lovers will want to visit the 92-acre Morris Arboretum with beautiful gardens, a swan pond, and even a canopy walk that takes visitors on an easy walk up 50 feet into the treetops for some amazing views.
  3. Monterey, CA. A bit of pampering is a popular mother-daughter activity, even if it’s just a local day out. But to take your pampering to a whole new level, head to Monterey and check into the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa and give yourself over to their spectacular 12,000-square-foot full-service luxury spa. In between pedicures and massages, take a stroll down Del Monte beach and enjoy a delicious meal downtown at Restaurant 1833.
  4. Fredericksburg, TX. Of course, you don’t have to go all the way across the country to find an amazing place for a mother-daughter getaway. After all, Texas is a big state. Setting off from one of the Ladera 55+ communities in Dallas TX, you can enjoy an easy enough road trip to Fredericksburg in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. Spring’s wildflower season is the perfect time to go, but even if you miss the wildflowers, there are more than 45 wineries and vineyards to enjoy. Lost Draw Cellars is even located right in downtown. If that wine has you ready to kick up your heels and start two-stepping, Albert Ice House and Dance Hall is the perfect way to cap off the day.

Wherever you go, just pick a place where you both can have fun, relax, and spend some quality time together.
